Moving to Wordpress

Greeting Friends,

After much considerarion Ive decided to move my blog over to wordpress to make it easier for me to stay updated and connect with other book blogs. Im sad to part ways with blogger because I dont think Ill be able to get the aesthetics exactly the way I want them on Wordpress, but Im hoping it will be worth it in the long run. If you follow me here Id really appreciate a follow on my new blog My Reading Escape. If you somehow just stumble onto this blog and want to see more from me Id love to have you drop by on my new blog. Ive managed to transfer all the blog posts to Wordpress so everything will be on there. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my posts.

NEWTs Readathon Wrap Up - 2019

This yearly readathon took place during the entire month of August. I completed all the OWLs exams in April so Id be able to go for any career I wanted, but since I was concentrating on Metal Charmer during my OWLs I decided to stick with that career for this round. My TBR changed a little as I added more graphic novels, but anything that counts on goodreads counts for this readathon and Im just happy I managed to complete everything I needed for my career. I read a couple more things in August, but Ill talk about those in my Monthly Wrap up on Monday. Some of the books have full reviews up on my blog, but Ill be talking more about my thoughts for all of these in my wrap up. I didnt share them here so my posts wouldnt get too repetitive, but I do mention why each books fits the exam. You can find more information on the Announcement Video.

I have a list of 20 September book releases that Im excited about or that Ill be keeping an eye on. Some Ive read or Im in the middle reading while others I plan on picking up very soon. Most if not all of these are young adult fantasy/scifi since thats what I mostly read, but there is a couple adult ones thrown in there. Fantasy JourneyAThon Wrap Up

The second round of the Fantasy JourneyAThon was Harry Potter themed and took place from August 10th to the 19th. I didnt complete all 10 challenges in 10 days, but I did finish 9 prompts so thats pretty good. I ended up changing some of my TBR by adding more comics to help me succeed. I read 3 novels, 2 novellas and 4 comics. I started the readathon a couple days late and spent a good portion of the last days playing Pokemon Pearl on my DS. I finally got a replacement game for the one I lost a couple years ago and got right addicted to it. It just makes me super nostalgic for my childhood. Im sure I could have read more, but I needed a little break to get excited about reading again and it worked. If you want to join the next round you should follow the readathon on Twitter so you can be notified whenever they announce round three.

His path was never meant to cross with Lou's, but a wicked stunt forces them into an impossible union—holy matrimony. The war between witches and Church is an ancient one, and Lou's most dangerous enemies bring a fate worse than fire. Unable to ignore her growing feelings, yet powerless to change what she is, a choice must be made. And love makes fools of us all.

5 Bookish Aesthetic Boards

I thought it be fun to put a few aesthetic boards together for some of my favorite books and share them with you all. Hopefully they will get you excited to read some of my favorites. The aesthetic boards took way longer to put together than I thought they would, but Im happy with the results considering how hard it was to come up with picture ideas for some of them. Im thinking of making more of these in the future but for now I have 5 to talk about.

10 Graphic Novel Reviews

Ive already talked a little bit about some these graphic novels in my monthly wrap ups, but since they were received for review I figured they deserved their own post. I talk about so many books in my wrap ups that sometimes the comics are overlooked and theres some amazing ones on this list that definitely deserve more attention. I cant believe there was actually a time where I avoided them. I decided to put a bunch of them together because my comic reviews tend to be pretty short. I don't know if its just me, but graphic novels dont usually leave me with much to say. Plus they're so short I dont want to give too much away. They are however great for readathons and getting over book hang overs so Ive been reading a lot of them more lately. For todays post I have 10 I want to share my thoughts on so lets get started.

Alessandras Interview - Shadows Between Us

I saw this idea on Books Amino and thought it would a unique way to gush about a new favorite character. Once I answered all the questions I realized it read like fan fiction, but this interview is pretty fan fiction so that was a new experience for me. Ive never written anything like it before, but I had so much fun I think I might do more in the future.

For this post I decided to interview the main character from the Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller who also wrote Daughter of the Pirate King and Warrior if the Wild. I just recently finished the book and its become an all time favorite. This was her best book to date and Levenseller has cemented herself as a favorite author of mine.

I will have a review go up closer to publication, but it doesnt come out until February 25th, 2020 so this interview is a quick teaser as to why you should put it on your TBR, especially if a slytherin romance is up your alley. Now lets get on with the interview.

Fantasy JourneyAThon TBR - Harry Potter

This readathon takes place from August 10th to the 19th. My TBR is a little ambitous for me since I haven't been reading more than a couple books a week at most, but it will be fun to try. Ill probably not read them in order since I read multiple books at once, but if I dont finish all the challenges by the time the readathon ends Ill only count up to whatever challenge I didnt end completing when I post my wrap up. Im just doing this readathon for fun, but if you want higher stakes you can join a Hogwarts house and earn points. You can find the information for the readathon here. I love readathons with maps and since I joined the last round I knew I wanted to do this one as well. This round is Harry Potter themed which works well with the NEWTs readathon Im also doing this month.

My Royal Court Book Tag - Original

I first created this original book tag on Books Amino April 13th 2018. Now thats its been over a year and I finally started my own blog I figured I would redo the tag so I can post the new version on here. I did change number 6 a little since I found the original question was a little too similar to another question. The tags is all about picking different fictional characters for your very own court. Ive added a list below of all the lovely people I could find that did the tag. I love seeing all your answers so feel free to do it even if I havent tagged you and let me know in the comments so I can add you to the list. If you've already done it and I didnt add you please let me know so I can do it. Now without further ado lets get into the tag.

Im hoping to read more next month but for now lets get into what I read.

Guilty Reader Book Tag

I seriously thought Id done this book tag when I first started posting on Books Amino, but I guess I never actually posted it. I do remember answering the questions, but I did lose all my prewritten posts a couple times so that might be the reason. I was tagged by the wonderful Alys (you should go check out her blog) and now I have the perfect excuse to finally post my answers.

July 2019 Book Haul

I have a bunch of exciting review copies to haul this month. Ive had instant access to Harper Collins egalleys for close to a year now and was beyond thankful for the opportunity to review their titles. Then in July I got access to all Macmillan egalleys out of nowhere and I was so freaking happy I didnt want to believe it at first. I didnt want to get my hopes up, but it seems like I wasnt dreaming and will now be able to review books from some of my favorite authors. I think Ill be going on a little download spree when they get their winter catalogue up. To make this haul more manageable Ive added some books to next months haul.

Top 15 Mid Year Favorites

I was going to only pick my top 10, but I have a feeling the second half of the year will be filled with a ton of new favorites so I might not get the chance to talk about some of these books in my favorites of the year post and I wanted a chance to gush over them one last time. After putting this list together I realized many of the books featured queer characters. Thats probably because Ive been reading a lot of queer books so far this year. I didnt include any book I read after the end of June since I wanted this list to only represent the first six months of the year. As usual to avoid spoilers I shared the summary of the first book for any sequels mentionned.

I dont know if Ill be able to get to all of them, but Ill definitely be keeping an eye out for people reviews and overall thoughts so I know which ones to prioritize. Some of these Ive received as review copies so Ill for sure be reading those ones in the next couple weeks. As usual for any sequels on this list Ive added the summary for the first book to avoid any spoilers. Ive also shared the Goodreads links in case you want to add any of the books to your TBR.

Litha Witchathon Wrap Up

This readathon took place from June 14th to the 21st. I picked mostly LGBT+ reads for my TBR since its pride month, but I did add a couple review copies I needed to get to. I decided to pick some LGBT+ comics to make my TBR more manageable. Since I received most of these for review Ill be sharing my full thoughts on them very soon. I did cheat a little by using some books Id already started, but this all just for fun so I dont think its a big deal.
